Hard work and immense generosity saw ‘Willberry Does Badminton’ raise an enormous total of £18,000 for bone cancer research on 11th of April. Hannah’s Willberry Wonder Pony, a charity set up by the late Hannah Francis first began when Hannah was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in January 2015 at the age of just 17. Her determination to continue riding her beloved horses despite her illness inspired people across the nation, and so the Willberry Wonder Pony movement came into being. Tragically Hannah passed away in August 2016, however her legacy has lived on and her charity is continuing in its amazing work.
Willberry Does Badminton
Sönd was a proud sponsor of the "Willberry Does Badminton" on the 11th of April, an event boasting some of the biggest names in Eventing, including Badminton Horse Trials’ 2017 course designer Eric Winter, raised funds for the charity.
Guests were not only greeted with a prosecco cocktail, but also a Sönd gift bag as they walked through the door. The panel of speakers, who will all be competing at Badminton this year, were then interviewed by the wonderful host Spencer Sturmey, informing the audience about their rides and hopes for the event. Following the talk, wine flowed and an inordinate amount of hog roast was consumed.
Multiple calls have been made for it to become an annual event – a daunting prospect for the very weary organisers, but a sure sign of triumph nonetheless!
Sönd and Willberry Wonder Pony
At the end of April Sönd will be donating 10% of all their month's profits to the Willberry Wonder Pony in aid of #kickingcancersbutt. So if you've been planning to make a purchase in the next couple of weeks, you might want to do it now to add your penny to the good cause :)
