Understanding Ageing Skin

Lifestyle factors such as stress, smoking, dehydration, poor sleep, eating an unhealthy diet, overexposure to the sun and neglecting exercise can all have an impact on our skin. As we age, we begin to lose our natural levels of a protein called collagen.

Collagen helps to keep our skin plump and youthful, and this natural decline also causes skin drooping and sagging, fine lines and wrinkles.

Everyday exposure to the elements, environmental toxins and pollutants also encourages skin ageing.

Ageing skin therefore needs good strength and support, as well as a healthy lifestyle in order to minimise the appearance of these signs of ageing. We can also take steps to help boost our levels of collagen to help lift and plump the skin.
