Is your skincare routine an in-depth 20 step routine that you stick to rigidly? (Seriously, we salute you, how on earth do you find the time?!) Or is it a quick face wipe once a day (hmm, you know face wipes aren’t that great, right?) and hope for the best? Or perhaps yours is somewhere in between and like us, you’re in the perfect Goldilocks Zone of skincare.

Either way, sometimes we need a little reminder to make sure we’re doing things in the right way that is most beneficial for our skin type.

Part of that little kickstart is knowing when and how to use a facial cleanser and how to perfect a good face cleansing routine. It might seem obvious, it’s at the end of the day, right? Well yes, but we should all also be following a face cleansing routine in the morning, too.

Because clean skin is the happiest skin, and that means that we stand more chance of having clear, calm and stress free skin. Skin that’s ready to absorb our moisturiser and any targeted skin solutions we use. And ultimately, skin that makeup will sit on, without rolling into little balls, struggling to cope with too much shine or caking into our dry areas.

So here’s the perfect face cleaning routine, according to the experts (us).

Your Evening Skincare Routine

So let’s take your evening skin care routine. If you wear eye makeup, then removing this, using a gentle eye makeup remover, a cotton or reusable pad and very gentle sweeping motions, should be your first step in your skincare routine.

Then, your facial cleanser is next. Whether you use a cream cleanser or a foaming face wash, this step is essential at the end of each day, even if you don’t wear makeup. It removes the dirt, sweat, oil and dead skin cells that are a natural, everyday occurrence for the skin.

When we leave the house, environmental pollutants, toxins, pollen and dirt can accumulate on our skin, which is exposed to the elements. This makes an evening facial cleanse even more important.

Your Morning Skincare Routine

So daily cleansing at night is essential, especially if we have contrary skin that gets stressed out, prone to acne or is sensitive. But what about in the morning?

Cleansing in the morning is just as essential for healthy skin.

Overnight, our hair might brush into our face, we might sleep with our face pressed into our pillows or we might lay facing our partners (or our pets!) that will then breathe onto our skin. (Gross, huh?)

So removing this kind of dirt the morning after an eight hour shift with the pillow and a loved ones breath is understandably important.

How to Use a Cream Cleanser

Our Rebalance and Reset Cream Cleanser is designed with both ease of use and effectiveness in mind. Made using natural shea and cocoa butters, it gently lifts away dirt and impurities without stripping the skin of its natural oils or protective barrier. In our opinion it really is the best facial cleanser.

We’ve also added beautifully fragranced yet gentle plant botanicals that help to nourish the skin as it cleanses, helping to keep even the most sensitive of skin types calm, soothed and clean.

Not only does it remove dirt and grime, our gentle facial cleanser is an effective makeup remover too, lifting away foundation, concealer, face power, blushers and bronzers. Plus, any environmental pollutants and toxins that have built up on your skin during the day will also be swept away.

To use our gentle facial cleanser cleanser, pump a small amount of cleanser onto clean fingertips. About the size of a five pence piece should be enough. Then, use gentle circular massaging motions to massage the cleanser into your skin.

Make sure you include your whole face including the easy to miss areas such as the temples and between your brows. You can also massage it into your jawline and neck to ensure you’re cleansing your whole facial area.

Continue to do this for 30 to 60 seconds to ensure all the dirt, oil, grime, dead skin cells and makeup are being lifted away from your skin. Then to remove the best facial cleanser ever (natch), along with all the unwanted dirt, you have two choices. (We know, we’re great, aren’t we?)

Either rinse it off thoroughly using lukewarm clean water. Or soak a facial cloth in lukewarm clean water, and use this to gently wipe away the cleanse and dirt. Then, whichever method you use, once all traces of cleanser have been removed from your skin, pat your face dry with a clean towel. Don't rub at your skin, as this can be too abrasive and harsh for most skin types.

Using our cream cleanser at night to remove the makeup and dirt of the day is ideal. But you can use our cream cleanser in the morning too.

Cleansing in the morning is important to help remove the sweat, oil and dirt that can accumulate on the skin overnight as we sleep.

So even though you won’t be removing makeup in the morning (or at least, you shouldn’t be, as we should always remove our makeup properly before bed!), it’s still good to cleanse. To use our gentle facial cleanser in the morning, use it in exactly the same way as you would in the evening.

And the good news is, we have a toner, too! Our Refreshing Essence Toner has been developed to complement our cream cleanser. It can be used after cleansing to remove any last traces of cleanser or dirt. Or it can be used in the morning on its own as a simple cleanser to remove oil and sweat.

Also containing plant extracts and botanicals, our refreshing toner helps to nourish and support the skin to look and feel healthy and clean.

Simply spray a few pumps directly onto the skin and wipe away with a cotton pad. Or spray onto a cotton pad and wipe it around the entire face. And that’s it! Clean, calm skin that’s ready to face the day. Or the pillow. Either way, your skin will thank you for a few minutes of daily effort for a lifetime of gain.

An Easy Skincare Routine in Three Steps

Building a decent skincare routine that will nourish, hydrate and look after the specific needs of your skin might feel like a chore. But making things simple with the three skin must-haves will make things much easier - cleanser, toner, moisturiser.
